Files are processed in your browser by this tool. They are not uploaded. Standard PPTX only, up to 100 MiB and 300 slides each.

Understand the numbers

Compressed bytes describe storage inside the PPTX ZIP. Archive headers and other overhead are reported separately. Shared assets count once, even when several slides reference them.

This version compares package paths, not visual slide content. Unambiguous added/removed media stored without ZIP compression may be paired after exact payload-byte comparison, within a 16 MiB comparison budget. A pair is labeled “Identical stored payload”; this does not prove a rename or validate the media. Other renamed files may appear as an addition and a removal. How to read possible rename pairs. References show direct relationships, including master/layout paths. No reference found does not prove an asset is unused. Media payload integrity is not checked. Only XML parts read for this analysis are decompressed and CRC-checked; other XML and media payloads are not verified.

Preview limits and report privacy

Each input is limited to 2,000 ZIP entries, 200 MiB declared expanded size, and 300 slides. XML parts read are limited to 2 MiB each and 12 MiB in total. Processing stops after 30 seconds, after the files have been read. These limits are not a total memory cap.

Only standard unencrypted PPTX is supported. Legacy and macro-enabled formats, ZIP64, split archives, unsafe paths and unsupported encodings are rejected. This conservative preview can reject unusual valid files.

Matching covers only unique added/removed stored-media paths with consistent declared metadata. DEFLATE, ambiguous duplicate buckets and pairs exceeding the remaining 16 MiB comparison budget are left path-based. Original added/removed rows remain in JSON. Recompression can change size without changing content. CRC and size metadata are not a cryptographic content comparison. This tool does not render slides, scan for malware, or prove which assets are unused.

The screen shows up to 100 comparison rows and 20 references per version in each row. Downloaded JSON includes all changes and references, plus package paths and metadata. Review it before sharing.

Nothing is deleted or compressed. Keep a backup before changing your original presentation. Microsoft’s file-size reduction guide
